Where 16th-century regal influences meet rebellious punk subculture. Revival reflects the current renaissance; the dismantling of archaic structures and views, people questioning norms & knowing the old world order is over.

Revival was my culminating undergraduate fashion show at Syracuse University. I wanted to encapsulate not only all the skills I learned over the years leading FADS, but also put on a showcase worthy of all the talented people in my community. Through the restraints and hardships of Covid-19, FADS persevered.
The 20-minute film follows a character (who might be played by me) entering an abandoned warehouse to an invite-only underground fashion show. The show is opened by two figures dancing to classical music that abruptly switches to rap, setting the note for the rest of the show. The first half of the show is placed in a pop-up regal setting, with projections of classical statues and a red carpet, punctuated with more traditional wordless fashion show music by the first DJ (Heit Haus). All the designs play between themes of old luxury and new rebellion. From structured corsets to ripped knitwear, a myriad of elements were chosen by students to portray what the theme meant to them. In the second half of the show, the second DJ (Troyce Pitones) takes over and plays rap music while we follow the character (viewer) to another floor where we can see large windows depicting the sun rising while the models walk in a more dystopian scene. As the end credits roll we see the character leaving the warehouse in daylight and yawning.

This show is an ode to my time in college, where I learned about structures of the world and how to question them... the energy and ability of youth to come together, get angry, and be expressive, while also always finding a way to have a good time.
